Jennifer Manly

Teacher: Computer Science
Jen Gilbert Manly teaches Computing,  Automation, and Robotics at Old Mill Middle School in Millersville, MD in the STEM magnet program. She is a skilled facilitator, with experience facilitating company-wide employee orientations and leadership programming for college students prior to beginning her career as an educator. She is a Project Lead the Way App Creators Master Teacher, a Certified ScrumMaster, and believes deeply in creating educational experiences through which students see their inherent value, discover their love of learning, and passionately pursue work that matters to them. She has presented on using agile in the classroom to educators at the county, state, and national level, and will present at ISTE 2019 in Philadelphia this June.

At Old Mill South, Jen has pioneered an immersive, real world learning experience in Computer Science, as her students work in teams to develop products for clients. Through large scale projects, students learn computer science while utilizing agile methods to develop interactive games, philanthropic PSAs, mobile apps, and websites.
